We’re raising $5,000 to cover scholarships that enable ALL of our scholars to attend a class trip to Portugal in April 2025

The Olá Program is a unique Portuguese–English bilingual immersion program at King Open School, a diverse public elementary school in Cambridge, MA that values being an inclusive and welcoming community. In April 2025, we are excited to offer our Olá 5th graders the opportunity to participate in a transformative one-week trip to Portugal to deepen and bring together all that they’ve learned during their elementary education. In the spirit of equity and inclusion, we are raising scholarship funds to ensure that financial constraints are not a barrier to participation for families and teachers going on the trip.
You can help us by:

- Making a donation to our Gofundme fundraising page, where you can also learn more about the trip and the impact it will have. A donation of any size is greatly appreciated in helping us reach our goal to raise $5,000 or more.
- Attending our Open Gym fundraiser on Saturdays Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 – Bring your kids to the King Open gym and cafeteria from 3-5 pm. In addition to gym time, we’re also offering crafts, snacks, and beverages! All kids are invited to join but their caregiver must be present. Suggested donation is $5/person or $10-20/family. Please share about this event with others!
*On February 8 we’ll also have a craft fair with giftable items, and a bake sale!
We deeply appreciate your generosity and commitment to our mission! And a big thanks to donors from our community who have already made donations and attended our open gym events, enabling us to make substantial headway in reaching our fundraising goal!
Any additional funds raised beyond this year’s trip needs will go toward scholarships for future Olá class trips.
